Founded in 1916 by Carlos Antequera, a passionate sword bearer of Don Antonio Fuentes, the Venta de Antequera began as a small wine cellar facing the majestic Cathedral of Seville. Over time, Carlos acquired the land where he built the first Venta, a space of approximately ten thousand square meters located in Guadaira, just where the tram turned around, near the Betis Stadium. His vision was to create a haven of peace for travelers en route to Seville.

In 1927, the Venta entered the vibrant world of bullfighting and fairs, becoming the favorite refuge of bullfighters and ranchers, as well as the last stop before the grand performances at the Maestranza bullring. With the start of each bullfighting season, the Venta transformed into a meeting point for enthusiasts, who would come every Holy Saturday to admire the bulls freshly arrived from the Merinales train stop.

During the Fair, the Venta reached its highest attendance, with queues extending beyond its doors. Customers, arriving on foot and on horseback, enjoyed up to three hundred delicious meals in its warm atmosphere. This emblematic place not only became a bullfighting reference, but also a cultural one, hosting the first meeting of the poets of the Generation of '27, who gathered in tribute to Luis de Góngora, led by Ignacio Sánchez Mejías.

With the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929, the Venta de Antequera experienced its golden age. The founder's son, with an ambitious vision, realized a new Venta in its current location, involving prestigious winemakers from Jerez to build pavilions surrounding the corrals. Each winemaker left their mark, creating unique spaces that reflect their distinctive style, with the participation of the renowned ceramist Enrique Orce.

In 1930, the Venta received an unexpected royal visit: the King Alfonso XIII, who, delighted by its splendor, granted the title of "Royal" to the Venta de Antequera. After the Civil War, the complex continued its bullfighting and leisure legacy, and even in 1962 a bullring was built, solidifying its place in history.

Today, almost a century later, the Real Venta de Antequera remains a symbol of Sevillian tradition, offering a warm and refined atmosphere, surrounded by lush gardens. With a full-service for all types of celebrations, it is the ideal place to enjoy a unique experience that combines the authentic Sevillian flavor with intimate and memorable spaces.
